IX. Banking of Courses: SFSU Course Review & Approval Guidelines

Normally, any course that has not been taught in 3 years will be banked and not included in the Bulletin. A department may reactivate a course at any time. To reactivate a course the department must resubmit the syllabus and a Course Action Request Form (CARF) to the college associate dean for review. If the content and requirements for the course are largely consistent with the previously offered course, then no further approval is necessary. The CARF is then forwarded to the curriculum coordinator, and the course reinstated. If the new syllabus reflects substantial change in the content or requirements, then the course must go through the new course approval process.
